Privacy Policy

Last updated: 16 June 2026

Who we are

This privacy policy applies to The Shortlist, accessible at https://techshortlist.co.uk. We publish independent consumer product reviews and buying guides.

What data we collect

We collect very little data and no personally identifiable information:

  • Affiliate link clicks — when you click an Amazon link on our site, we record which article and product you clicked. This is anonymous and contains no personal information. We use this solely to understand which reviews are most useful.
  • Standard server logs — our hosting provider (Railway) may log IP addresses and request metadata as part of normal infrastructure operation. We do not access or analyse these logs.

We do not collect your name, email address, or any other personal information. We do not require you to create an account.

Cookies

We do not set any first-party cookies. Third-party services listed below may set their own cookies — please refer to their individual privacy policies for details.

Affiliate links & Amazon

The Shortlist participates in the Amazon Associates Programme, an affiliate advertising programme designed to provide a means for sites to earn advertising fees by advertising and linking to Amazon. When you click one of our affiliate links and make a purchase, we may earn a small commission at no extra cost to you.

Amazon may set cookies when you visit their site via our links. Their privacy policy is available at amazon.co.uk/privacy.

We may use Amazon OneLink, which automatically redirects international visitors to their local Amazon store. This does not collect any additional personal data.

Third-party services

  • Pinterest— we may pin our articles to Pinterest. Pinterest's privacy policy applies to interactions on their platform.
  • Google AdSense — if display advertisements are shown on this site, Google may use cookies to serve personalised ads based on your browsing history. You can opt out via Google Ad Settings.

How we use your data

The anonymous click data we collect is used only to:

  • Understand which articles and products are most helpful to our readers
  • Improve the quality and relevance of our reviews

We do not sell, rent, or share any data with third parties for marketing purposes.

Data retention

Anonymous click counts are retained indefinitely as aggregate statistics. There is no personal data to delete.

Your rights

Under UK GDPR, you have rights regarding your personal data. Since we do not collect personal data, most of these rights are not applicable. If you have any concerns, please contact us and we will respond within 30 days.
